Did you know that in Indiana, eligible family members can get paid to care for their loved ones at home? Through the Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) program, families can receive compensation for the care they are already providing — with professional oversight and support from Hearts Open Home Care.
What Is Structured Family Caregiving?
Structured Family Caregiving is a Medicaid waiver service that:
- Allows an eligible family member to provide daily care for a loved one
- Requires 24-hour support availability
- Includes oversight by a licensed nurse or care team
- Ensures documentation, safety monitoring, and compliance
Who Qualifies?
To participate in the SFC program:
- The individual receiving care must be eligible for a qualifying Medicaid waiver
- The family caregiver must meet program criteria (not all family members qualify)
- The caregiver must live with the individual and provide consistent daily assistance
- 24-hour support availability is required
